We had the clay out the other day, there is something very calming about using clay, it is a great stress reliever. YC was making her own thing and I made clay owls. They are a pretty simple clay craft that younger children would be able to make.

Make sure you follow my craft board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

To make your own clay owls you will need:

  • Clay
  • Round cookie cutter
  • Water
  • Pen lid
  • Rolling pin

Roll your clay out and cut out a circle with the cookie cutter. If you find that your clay is too dry and crumbly to add a little water to your hands.

Using the lid of a pen make half circle indentations across the bottom half of the circle; this is to represent the feathers.

Fold the sides into the middle and smooth over any cracks.

Then fold the top down. Smooth over any cracks and make the two points into the owls ears.

Using the pen lid again make two eyes and a beak.

You will now have to leave it for a day or two, until it is completely dry.

Once it has completely dried you can paint it.

Pin for later:
