The first time I came across agamograph pictures was when I was in year 5 and I boy in my class brought one in that he had made. I always found them fascinating after that. Just in case you are wondering what an agamograph picture is a series of images that changes depending on the angle you look at them.

Make sure that you follow my craft board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

To make a set of agamograph pictures you will need:

  • 2 pieces of paper
  • Ruler
  • Pens/pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Divide one of the pieces of paper in half and draw two different pictures on each side. You will want to completely fill the sides.

On the back of the completed picture mark out 1in strips. Make sure you don’t have one that crosses over the middle dived of the pictures. They need to be completely separate. Also don’t worry if the last strips of each picture our slightly shorter. Cut along each line.

On the other piece of paper mark out the same width strips. Next fold along each of the lines so you make a zigzag.

YC laid hers out on the table, that way it was easier to stick them in the correct order.

Alternately glue the strips of your pictures onto the zigzags, make sure that the pictures are still in the correct order, otherwise this wont work.

When you look down at your completed picture it will just look like a jumble of pictures. However, when you look from either side you should get a view of one of your pictures.
